I know this was not an option for the 1st Gens but could it be with the 2000 models. Theres a dealer here that has one advertised as such.

Jeff all 4th generation SS Camaros start life as Z28's. In '96 the first year the SS was back in production the cars were refered to as "Z28SS" with interior (floor mats) and underhood (air box) logos to support it. Some very early '97 SS cars got the Z28SS moniker as well but very few. I think a '97 SS with an LT4 and the Z28SS lables would be a very desirable car!! with respect to the 4th gen...

Anything other than mentioned above is a misnomer of sorts... Even though they start life as Z28 I believe it's dropped everywhere but the RPO on the pop and build sheet...

Jeff, An SS coupe for $23K would be a good deal, but they list for much more. If you stuck the SS option $3,625 and the required 1SD group $1700 to the Z28 base price $22,495, and all the dealer costs, you are in the $27-$28 range not counting other options.

I went to Chevy.com, NADA and Kelly to build a 2002 SS and all the prices are there. NADA and Kelly have the invoice cost too, but not the chevy site http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I am tempted too with the 0.0% deal, but its only for 36 month financing. longer financing is more percents.

Use caution and do your homework! Kevin the car is a 2000 model if I read it correctly. www.Edmunds.com (http://www.Edmunds.com) shows dealer retail at about 18K for a base 2000 SS.... Jeff take a look at the link below and then push the "Customized Appraisal" button and adjust for the exact car. I also used my zip code which may have some impact so you might start over using the correct one for your area!! http://www.edmunds.com/used/2000/chevrolet/camaro/2drz28sscoupe/prices.html

I expect prices will be inflated due to 2002 being the end of production but I would go in offering closer to the private party price and see where it goes from there... Also try to get some history on the car, these 4th gens get "ridden hard and put away wet" and kept shinny new looking alot of the time. If it was owned by someone in the 18-25 age group expect it was punished a few times!

DjD it is a 2000 year model. Took a look at it and it checked out to be a Z with the Ss options like you said it could be. 18,000 miles on it and the neat part is that they even put it on the track for me to take a closer look at it. Dont see any damage at all and I found out it was one of the cars that one of the Police officers here ordered for his patrol car( yes they get a allocation to purchase private cars and they get outfitted with all the COP goodies) Never made it to that stage though since he ended up moving to the mainland. They had all the paperwork and it shows all the warrenty work performed. Asked to have that worked checked against the computer at the Chevy Dealer next door and it checked out. Offered 21K hard ones with no fiancing. Hope to hear more by tommorrow before I get home from work.
The thing that kills us here is like other goods theres a huge mark up for vehicles its not unheard of to have the mark up around $4500-4,900 on top of the sticker price http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif If they dont get you one way they get you n another.

Sounds like a cool car Jeff!! You can check the SLP options from a sticker on the passanger door. There should also be an SLP sticker under the hood stating the car has been modified by SLP. With the vin and info on the SLP stickers you can find out what production number the car is by calling SLP. It's kinda neet SLP knows all the stuff we look for in documentation of a classic and make it available for their cars...

Good luck and don't fight over who gets to drive it with the wife too much!!

Fight over who gets to drive it nah, it will free up the 67 that she likes to drive on Friday and on the weekends. and will also let me get rid of the honda that the dealer still has http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif

Oops, Dennis, you're right 2000, not 2002. I have 2002 on the brain.

Here's SLP's web site.
http://www.slpeng.com

They have a message board and it looks like there is a VIN number/SLP number forum.

Luck, Kevin

Well the 2000 was a hit. we walked to midnight mass last night and when we were leaving she noticed the car parked (prepositioned) in the parking lot near the entrance that we were walking out of. She even made a comment that it was a nice looking car and asked how i would like to lose one of the parking spaces in the driveway to that! Told here i could deal with that and then handed her the keys and asked if she could deal with driving it home! Needless to say we went round the island after mass and as we speak she and her mom and our kids are out in it now.

Have to admit she has been my #1 supporter in my quest in my 1st Gens so it was well worth it. Now I guess ill have to get another computer so she can get over to NastyZ's site.
Again all Merry Christmas
