I hope this is in the right forum. I have a GM flywheel F247 3729004 on the back. Can anyone identify what it goes to. graemlins/clonk.gif

The flywheels usually have a casting number like the one you found and then a part number when you order it from a dealer. They usually are 2 different numbers. I will try to look that up when I get home in my parts book. What engine is it supposed to be off? That will help. How many teeth on the ring gear?

Jonesy...don't know what it came off of. It has 168 teeth and those numbers where the only ones I could find.

I couldnt find any part numbers that matched that flywheel. Looks like you have an 14" flywheel for an 11 inch clutch setup. Judging by the casting number and the date code of June 24. 1967. It went on a 1967 car. Sorry, that's all I can add.

Be careful! That MIGHT be a big flywheel for a small clutch(only). That number looks familiar to me and I did have one like that before.

Hi Mark. On the 13 1/2" surface there are six holes with an 11 1/2" center to center measurement across from each other and the way it looks there was a least a 10" clutch on it.

Gary,
If you have 11.5" for a bolt circle, you might have a regular run of the mill 11" clutch setup. I have never actualy measured the bolt circles before. Maybe someone else has?

3729004 is a '56-'62 Corvette flywheel (168-tooth ring gear), for a 10.5" clutch; the casting date is 1957, not 1967. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

WOW!! Now that's an old flywheel!!

Kinda falls in with my little old WCFB cast-iron intake..

Gary,
That IS a big flywheel for the small clutch. You will want to find a "3791021" flywheel (~$45 used) and loose that one you have. Get the "403" bellhousing (~$40) and a new starter while you are at it. The stuff that went with that older flywheel will be all different. The clutch assy is the same 10.5" as stock though.

If this is the case, what is a good asking price for something like this flywheel? Maybe someone can use it.

Paragon gets about $250 for them (reconditioned/resurfaced) from '56-'62 Corvette restorers; they're hard to find. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
