I have a Norwood stamped Replacement Engine and a Norwood built car. I need to know what is acceptable or correct when it comes to a correctly installing correctly dated intake for my Engine. The car has a 03D Build date and the Engine casting is a March 6th of 69 with and stamped assembly date of 10 March 69. The intake in question is a 3931067, Jan 29 of 69. This is currently located on the net. Would this be considered technically correct for my application or should I stick with hunting something in the Mid Feb to early March time frame? Also when the assembly date is stamped, does this mean the engine is complete from carb to pan or is this just a short block in the holding area waiting to be dropped into a car along with all the added bolt on items? I forgot to mention the Engine is a low horse 272 cast 396. Looking forward to all the comments and help http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif Tom

That dated intake will work fine for your car; the stamped engine assembly date is when it came down the assembly line at Tonawanda - when it was shipped to Norwood from Tonawanda it was a "long block", including the pan, intake, water pump, harmonic damper, distributor, exhaust manifolds, and flexplate (automatic) or flywheel, clutch, and bellhousing (manual). Everything else was assembled to it on the Engine Dress Line at Norwood, when the VIN derivative was stamped on it.

Amazing... just got home from 200 mile trip to a salvage yard looking for intake for my 350 and all I found was a 3931067. They had a chevy by the numbers book, so when I looked I saw it was for a 396 so I cant use it. It was pretty clean and they said if I could use it, $75.00
Now if I could just find a 3927184 instead
