View Full Version : Decode for engine and trans
Stone_Henge Aug 25th, 02, 05:04 AM Hi yall,
After doing some research, I found it was originally a eight cylinder sports coupe, model year 1969, built in the Norwood assembly plant, unit number 41,496 (Estimated built last week of Oct. 1968). The interior was standard Ivory and the exterior was Daytona Yellow with a black vinyl top. My Question Is how do I find what engine and trans came with the car, it looks to been an auto from the factory since the column handle is still there, but is there any other way to tell which is the correct motor and trans for the car..(note it has a 10 bolt rear)
thanks
Baby68RS Aug 25th, 02, 08:25 AM My build date is a 5th Week of October (around holloween) and mine is a 1968!
HawaiianCamaro Aug 25th, 02, 09:46 AM 10E for a 69 Car would be Oct 68 build date
10E for a 68 car would be Oct 67 build date

Kurt S Aug 25th, 02, 05:47 PM I take it the car still has the PRNDL indicator on the dash and an auto brake pedal? I ask cause column shift manual was the default transmission.
Drums?
1 or 2 fuel lines?

Stone_Henge Aug 26th, 02, 03:44 AM well...unfortunally all the pedals are missing from the car and the indicator plate is gone, but I can tell by the end of the steering column the it has one arm..also it has drums all the way around..and guess what the master was missing too...I think it probably was single line....Also I was reading is a data book that early standard 1969 models came with 327 ..instead of 307...So Im thinking maybe this car came with 327 powerglide. What do you think?

It was either a LM1 or a 327. Depends on how many fuel lines. Is it one or two?
Could be a powerglide or a TH350. No way to tell.

Unreal Aug 26th, 02, 03:56 PM could also be a 350 2bbl
Stone_Henge Aug 26th, 02, 04:49 PM okay just verified only one fuel line.
Kurt S Aug 26th, 02, 05:32 PM Yup, that confirms it was a 327 car originally.
Unreal,
The L65 350 2bbl came later in the year.
