I'm taking apart a front disk brake/A-arm assemblies from a '69 Z28 wrecked in 1970.
These are virgin ;) calipers that has never been rebuilt.

There is a single number '9' cast into each caliper that looks like it could be a date code.
Were the calipers date coded?
The single number '9' is made in the casting by what looks like a replaceable die (you can see a slotted screw impression).
I have seen Julian date codes & it's not like that, it's cast not stamped. It's more like what would be on a water pump without the Month letter & day number just a '9' on the end (blank, blank,9).

They also have the number 22 stamped into each of them on one of the edges where you would put the pads into.
Maybe it was a batch number. I could post a pic if anyone's interested.
Thanks in advance.

Mine have what I believe, are Julian dates on them... one is 229 and the other is 232.

Steve,
I posted this question in the brakes & suspension section & that was answered by David Pozzi.
He describes the correct style for '69 calling them "v" back. Are yours like that?
Thanks for the reply,

Not sure what you mean by "V-back", but mine have the correct part #'s cast into them, and they are original to the car....
