What are the things to look for in determining whether a 69 pace car came with a big or small block? There was no engine or heater box installed when I took possesion. It has big block frame mounts that look original and 396 fender tags that could have been added anytime but I would like to find some more clues if possible.

Is the trans crossmember still there? BB is diff than SB. Looks for front spring tags. Is the tach still there?

That's all I could think of.

check the heater box...they are different big to small block

ops,now i read it all,ok,no heater box..try a title search,and call a past owner..

Well, this is a toughie!

Look at the front springs for an original spring tag. BBs got a different code.

TH400 was only offered with BB, but that could've been added.

Is the dash and engine wiring there?

Tach plug in dash is different the fuel gauge (this would just confirm guage package)

What is the fuel line configuration? single would be only 396/375. duals would be either 396 or 350.

TH400 would have a different kick down harness from th350.
