the cowl tag on a car im looking at buying reads to be a chevelle,same on the door.i think someone changed the cowl tag.where else can i find the true vin # on the frame?and how can i tell how it was equiped the motor does say 396\375.but how do i know if its a real ss or z28 or a plain camaro that was cloned .i dont understand the cowl replacementwith a mallibu vin #(13617)is the car stolen.please help the car is nice but it is pricey if its not a legit car or is stolen and cloned i think the proper things need to be implemented

This will help you somewhat but if both the VIN and the COWL tags have been swapped out, Run do not walk to the nearest exit.
Can you still post the VIN/Cowl Tag info just the same though. I would like to see what they are trying to pass off as a Camaro. Also i will post it over on the Team Chevelle site and let the guys/gals over there know and we will see what happens.

A partial VIN stamp on a 67/68 or 69 Camaro will only show you the year/build plant and the SEQ number. Try looking under the seats backs and seats in the springs along with under the dash and the top of the Gas tank for a build sheet.
