Did I post some strange numbers or do I need to look again? I think this will be the deciding factor on what my 68 really is. I would really appreciate any information on what this rear end is and what kind of car it might have come out of?

Thanks

You need to recheck that code. Is it BL 0312 G2? What's the casting # on the center section?

Thanks for getting back to me, I will climb under the car in the morning recheck the numbers and post. I think this is an original 68 ss 396 4 speed car without motor or transmission. I know that 68 is the easest to fake, but this car is is in real bad shape and based on that I would say it could be original. Here is what I have found so far I know that most of this can be faked. Correct bb frame frame mounts, heater coming out of center. Standard steering wheel with small SS emblem. It has regular drum brakes. I guess the real deciding factor is the rear tail pan was originally blacked out. I feather sanded down to expose the original paint and it is black, then primer, then metal. So I guess the rear end will be the deciding factor as to how this car was originally equipted. If you have anymore suggestions as to what to look for I would appreciate your input??

Thanks

BL is a 3.07 12 bolt.
Built March 12th, cast Feb 18, 68.

Just a few other things you can check (speedo cable piercing and tire size come to mind). See http://www.camaros.org/diffs68.shtml
