I just ran across a guy who has a muncie 4spd advertised and only wants $350 for it and he says it was rebuilt and never used. The # on the main case is 3?51325 the tail shaft is 3846429 the front shaft is 3916020 the side cover is 3884685. There is also a number stamped in it which is P0128. The guy thinks it is from an early 60's car but I just want to know for sure that it is a m21 and that it will work in my 69 camaro. Thanks for your help.

Built Jan 28.
Looks like a 65 or 66 maincase. No way to tell from the #'s if it's a M20 or M21. Maybe by the # of grooves on the input shaft, maybe.
You want a M20 anyway. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
Personally, good price, weaker trans. Has 7/8" cluster pin that doesn't hold up that well.

66 should have a 1in cluster. If it is a 7/8 cluster and has no groves on the input shaft it should be a 2.56 low one grove should be a 2.20 low I think that it has been so long since Chev made replacements for early trans that there weren't any replacements that weren't marked. I could be wrong. If all else fails count the revolutions in first gear.
