Hello, I purchased a 396 motor last year from a local guy that had it for years. Before I turn it into a 427 for my 67 Camaro, I wanted to see if anyone knew how I could post the VIN and casting dates on the Team Chevelle website to see if this 69 Chevelle is still alive. I cross referenced it to a 69 Chevelle, 396-350HP with manual trans. Thanks for your help.

Both boards are run by the same person. Post it in the Bench racing section sice thats where it would get the most hits.

What are the numbers on the engine just the same. some of the folks here also have Chevelle's

Thank you for the quick response. The numbers are as follows:

Block Casting number = 3969854
Cast Date = F288
Pad Stamped = T0702JA
VIN stamped by oil filter = 9N? or 9K can't tell second character but looks like 9N472366

JA is a 1969 Chevelle 396-325 hp RPO L35 mated to a 4-sp trans, base SS 396 engine.

Must be 9K as Kansas City built Chevelle's, I cannot find any info that this is a Camaro engine which a 9N would indicate, N=Norwood.

also the last six of the vin after the K starts with a 4 thus not a Camaro so Chevelle it must be.

Correct, I did not pay any notice to that. 9K472366 is a late 1969 model built sometime in early July 1969, 300001 was the starting point at KC for Chevelle, so this was in the 172,366 A body from KC...
