Wondering how or where to find the VIn# on a 1967 327 block. I think the engine matches... the cowl tag has a build date of 09C(third week sept.) and the engine has a pad stamp of T0914MN which is Tonawanda plant sept. 14th and MN means a 1967 Turbo Fire with 275 HP. I am under the impression that the VIN number should also be on the pad stamp in front of the passenger side head. Can anyone tell me for sure?

TRIM TAG:

09C P391
ST 67-12667 LOS 103 BODY
TR 732-Z F-1 PAINT
D 2MG 3SK
5Y

ENGINE CODE: T0914MN

Could an engine be built in TonaWanda, NY and then a week later be installed in an Los Angeles car? Hmmmm....

Hey, whats with a CA. guy using an IN. user name? LOL. In 67 a partial vin. # was not used on 327 blocks. Your suffix code MN is for a 327/275hp block with AIR (smog) so it was most likely intended for a LOS build. Although one week seems like a tight window for the body assembly it is possible. At NOR it was possible for a block to be cast and assembled the same day. I might suggest you check the cast date of the block located at the rear passenger side for added assurance. It looks OK to me, I mean, for sure dude. Hey, I can use CA. lingo if you can have a Hoosier user name!

I don't have any doubt that the engine is original to the car. The cowl tag date is the start of the build not the end date. Also this car was built toward the end of week C. It looks to me like the engine had at least 8 days to make it to CA and probably more like 9 or 10.

Pat, what happened to all your cars in your signature?

My 67 RS coupe has a "MN" coded engine (327/275-Powerglide) as well. There is no VIN stamped on my engine either. My L30/M20 doesn't have the VIN stamped either, as a matter of fact I don't think that I've seen a 67 327 with the VIN stamped in the block.

Ya Pat what happened to all of your cars??

OOpps there goes another one. I'm selling em off one at a time here on the classifieds. The 68BB SS/RS and the 67SS only lasted a day. The 67L30/M20 is up next and then the ragtops for spring. My brother lost a good job this year and I have hired him to work in my shop full time doing restoration on the remaining two project 68's I have. He went to autobody school out of H.S. and spent five years in that field of work. I love my cars but family comes first. However, we will have to have a long talk before these last two go!

Send me some pictures of the 67 L30/M20 with the fresh paint before you sell it!! You also promised me some engine compartment pictures as well. ;)

Wait, so are you saying that ALL of your camaros are going?!?!

The paint turned out real nice, my brother is getting more comfortable after having been away from the bodyshop for over fifteen years. I have to say he is happier now than I've seen him in years and it's been a rebonding experience for us both. I still need to detail the engine compartment and put the smog pump back on, thats my department. I'll get some shots and send them on.

Thanks a lot Dudes!jk This makes me feel much better, that this engine is most likely original, it still has the original smog pump on it as well(not hooked up), which matches with the stamp. The previous owner also stated that it had the original 128,000 miles on it and that the engine and trans have never been cracked open or rebuilt. Also Hoosier Daddies is an attempt at Who is your Daddies? I played on a Hockey team and that was our name.....Dumb I know.

Thanks again

OK I guess I wont ask for royalties or sue for copyright invringement on the Hoosier thing. Welcome to the site. FYI if you dont know it already the drivetrain combo along with being a ragtop in a desireable color makes your car a strong co$$ectable. I would suggest you decode the rest of the drivetrain so you know just what you have. Would you be willing to share the cowl tag information with us? We will be glad to help.

Since I am new to this forum, or any online car forum for that matter....Is there any harm in giving out your VIN#? Can someone track you down using this along with DMV information? Even though my car is safely locked away, I would hate for a thief to show up at my door looking for a car to steal.
