I have a 1108367 starter with a date I don't understand. What I don't really know is what is a zero and what is the letter O. THe date is O020 6. The 6 is off to the right about an inch though so it may not be part of it.

The first digit (or "O") should be the year of production or in your case I would guess this is a 1970.
The second digit is the month of production - I have never seen a "0" here. Are you sure you can see it right? I would double check to see if it a deeply struck C or D or even a really bad G (which would be March[C], April[D] or July[G]). Since the 1969 production was held over there may be some mark that doesn't fit the standard date codes, but I'm not aware of it.
The last two digits are the date of the month produced - or 20th day of the month.
I have seen these 'far away numbers' such as your "6" - not sure if it is an assemblers mark or what.

My observations are the same as yours. The numbers are nice and clean stamped. No mistaken what is what O020 looks just like that.

Ok, after some time researching I finally found out what this dern 1108367 0 O 20 belongs to. After getting some proding from Jerry M. I looked in my old 66-72 Motor Manual and found that the 1108367 starter was used on the 68-69 307, 302, 327, and the 70-72 307.

Now the question is what do I do with it? I can't use it for my 69 Z 06A car. Based on this info the starter is for a 70 307 car built on the 20th day, of what month. Jerry M says for me to just move on and find what I need for my car at 200 to 450 a pop.

So my question is, even though I have the correct part number, the date code ruins this starter for me, what should I do with it? Throw it out? Who the heck would want it for a 70 307? Any ideas? Ebay?

I do have it the for sale/wanted section but I'm going to remove the ad if I can

Thanks for letting me bend ya'lls ear. Kind of frustrating finding this stuff out.
