I'm new here!

Looking heavily into buying a lemans blue/white interior Z28, found this car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6161&item=2452364599

What do you think? Seems the price is too high. Patched floor pan, non #'s matching drivetrain, wrong rear bumper, no smog, headers, wrong colored grille. These are just the things I've found so far. Any other things to add to the list? Seems this car should be a 20-25k car don't you think? I found the same car on cars.com for 33k. Is there something I'm missing or does the guy just want way too much?

Thanks!
Dope

Engine, transmission and rear end are too early for an 06a car. Should have mid to late may dated parts, and a 0010 block I beleive. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Looks like to me he had an early z/28 drive train he put in that car. VIN and cowl tag line up fine.

Hey Dope,

Actually a fairly nice car. Aside from what you mention I see the following.

</font> Can't see where the neg batt cable is terminated and alt wiring is funky.</font> Tanks painted and straps are wrong as well the squeek strips don't belong.</font> Wrong master cyl and no acorn prop valve.</font> PS hoses routed incorrectly.</font> 67-68 style exhaust out the back.</font> Around the grill not painted to match body color.</font>

Buying a car like this off eBay always brings serious concerns and especially when it's a Non Documented car and clones are plentiful these days. I would not bid on this car unless I could go over it with a fine tooth comb in person. I have seen many nicer cars for less money so be patient is my advice to you.

Hello Dope, The post by x22d80ragtop is Correct, this car and my Documented RSZ28 are only 300 cars apart which i think makes them produced the same day. My block is a 3970010 and it is cast date May 21 with a Stamp Pad of VO527DZ. Every thing else on my car is dated May. , except my diff which is BU0602G1 ( June 2nd) The fact that all the dates are 68 would make me wonder as to the authenticity of this car. The trim tag looks correct, my car is also 06A. Hugger69 makes a Good Recomendation regarding finding a nicer car. I can see if the motor or trans numbers do not match, ( after all these cars are 35 years old and trans and motors were changed with great frequency) but you have to wonder why the diff numbers are way off. Just my 2 bits worth.

Thanks guys. I had a chat with the gentleman selling the car and while he did seem nice, he said rock bottom price was $32k.

Considering all the things I've learned recently about firstgen Camaro buying, I'd say there's no way it's worth that much. I was hoping to grab it for amybe 25-26k. Time to keep looking...
