Can y'all help us with the trim tag on the 79 Z-28 we bought. It may be a fake, but we want to know for sure.

We think the block numbers are 460778, but didn't have a flashlight.
We cannot find the build sheet behind the rear seat. The car has Z-28 fenders, front air dam, hood, stripes, wheels, and shifter. It has a 130 speedo, with a 4700, 5000 rpm tach, no idiot lights other than oil.
Should the scoop be functional? Why does this supposed original car have a two barrel?

The car is a real Z28 by the tag, it was yellow with a black interior, 2bbl's were not available in the '79 Z28, the only engine available was the 350-4bbl. your VIN should verify the engine, the VIN should start 1Q87L9L------ the fifth digit L = 350-4bbl. Chris............ and no the scoops are not functional on the '79

Are you sure ? I'm being told by the guys on the 2nd gen board that real z's would have "Z28" stamped on the cowl tag & I read that the vin code 1FQ87 is the code for either sport coupe or z-28. We looked for the build sheet behind the back seats. Where else could it be ? (gas tank ?). The emissions sticker says it is a D7 350. The vin states that it was a 350 car, but could the 350 be ordered with other models ?
Sorry, but I'm afraid I may have gotten taken on this one & I'm just trying to get my story straight before I light into the guy that sold it. Thanks !

Yes other '79 Camaros had the 350 4bbl, and only on the Norwood built Camaros had Z28 stamped on the tag, and sport coupes and Z28's VIN started 1FQ87, but what gives the car away is the bottom of the tag, on the line that starts with B, which is a black interior color, the next is a dash in your cars case, which meant it came w/o power windows, if it did, there would have been a 3 here, and the third digit 8 is the model, 8 being a Z28.
