In reading some of the posts, I noticed some people talking about a GM Canada number for getting model info. I need some tips on tracing the history of my Norwood 69 X33d80 car(too bad the last owner gave the original DZ 302 away for scrap about 10 years ago) Any help is appreciated.

You need to run a "title search" through the DMV in each state your car was titled. Each state has it's own nuances. Some keep records forever, some only 5 years. Some are free, some charge a few bucks. Let me know which state you are interested in and I can probably give you fees, address, phone info, etc to get you started. Be aware with the Privacy Act, most states will black out the previous owner's name and address on the copies of the previous title they send you.

I think the GM Canada reference was for cars sold originally from a dealership in Canada. GM Canada seems to keep better records and if you provide them with the VIN and $40 Canadian you can get some info. I think they can give you the list of options, numbers, prices, etc. that were on the car when sold. Don't know the number for them though. You can also go to this website where the guy obtained info from GM Canada: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Lane/6355/camaro.html

GM Canada is only of use of the car was ORIGINALLY sold in Canada. If so, they will basically give you the info from your Trim Tag, possibly a little more, but not much. If the car was not sold in Canada, you're out of luck. If you think it may be a Canadian car, call GM Vintage services at 888.467.6853.

The GM of Canada gives you a complete list of all options! Much more than what is on the trim tag.

Not for me it didn't, maybe mine didn't have alot of options to list to begin with. I got my sheet from GM Canada, the only think I found out that I didn't already find through help on this site, CRG and some books is that it came with Increased Protec Antifreez. It also tells you the actual production date and shipping date.

They did send me what appears to be the product manual. It has all the tune-up specs, weights, dimensions, etc. for that model year.

It's at least worth a shot calling them. I think they will only bill you if they find something in their database on the VIN.
