I found a "tri-power" intake manifold in a junk yard some years ago, it was obviously a chevy intake and at first glance I thought it was for a small block. I bought it along with the three carbs for only $75. After I got it home and took a closer look, I realized it wasn't a typical small block manifold, if it was for a small block at all. The main reason was the front of the intake where it seals against the block , has a oval hole that the sealing surface encircles. It would definately not fit on a standard block. The more baffled people I show it to, the more curious I get. Here is the casting number, can you tell me anything about it? 3749948 It also has K457 which I've been told is the production date November 4th, 1957. Anybody?

Could it be for a 348 engine? look in www.mortech.com (http://www.mortech.com) & see if you can come up with a match there!

348's did come with tri-power. But I think the first year for them was 58'. And I don't beleive chevy put them in trucks. I know the 58 Impala had them, with 3 dueces. If the date code is correct as you figure it, that would make sense for 58 model year, you think?

That early production date could be for a 58, cause it was cast in Nov.
