I have a distributor off my 68 Z-28 and it has a metal tag around the shaft instead of being stamped. Has 1111075 DELCO REMY 466 on the tag. What did this really belong too?

On the same metal tag should also be a date code. Should be a 4 digit code something like 5A28 witht the first digit the calendar year (5=1965) second digit the month (A=January) and the last two digits the day of the month. (28= 28th day)

The distributor is cast iron? Not aluminum, right??

I think the last year of the cast iron dist. body is 66.

For sure the 68 would have the aluminum body shaft with the #s stamped on the body with no tag on it.

Yes, it's a cast distributor. Was hoping it was the original..oh well.

The "466" is the date code, but the middle character should be a letter, not a number - are you sure it isn't a "G" instead of a "6"? At any rate, it's a 1964 distributor.
