Check out the next post [This message has been edited by Jonesy (edited 03-03-99).] Jonesy Mar 3rd, 99, 01:56 PM Okay here goes: Looks like a 67 Camaro tag 12367 = Sport Coupe, Custom interior NOR = Norwood, Ohio assembly plant 128802 = Body seq number 765 = Black Bucket Seats z = Custom Bucket Seat Trim EE = deepwater Blue paint upper and lower E = tinted windows (all) L = Fold down rear seat 2LG = Center Console w/ 4spd floor shifter 3SL = Rally Sport (Z22) Interior Decor (Z23) 4N = SS 396/325 hp Door Tag 1 chevrolet 2 Camaro 43 8 cylinder Hardtop 7 2 door coupe 7 1967 Model year N Norwood Assembly plant 229411 = Unit number, the 129,411th unit I believe with that VIN your car was made in June of 67 ( judging by the unit number) Hope this helps, Looks like you have a keeper 67 RS/SS 396 Camaro Kurt S Mar 5th, 99, 12:42 PM Jonesy's decode was correct. Your car was a RS/SS396 325 hp 4speed originally. If you post the #'s on the engine pad on the front of the engine block, pass side, we can tell you what the engine is. Should be 2 sets of #'s stamped there. Also, could you post the date code from the trim tag, should be 05C, 05D, or 06A? Any other options on the car? betsy Mar 5th, 99, 07:20 PM thanks kurt..as far as the tag codes I got as far as the body seq#...after that I was lost. My interest was the engine as I bought the car with a 327 but do have the #'s match 396. I will pull those #'s and let you know.As far as the date code, thats a that looks like 05E E. What other options am I looking for? You tell me and I'll tell you.. The engine block casting # is 3902406 the block itself was never stamped on the left front of the block.. Need any ideas on that...thanks for the response any help is appreciated Jonesy Mar 8th, 99, 05:26 AM The casting number for a 67 396 Camaro Block is 3902406, so it could be the original block. The reason why no numbers are on the pad in front of the pass side head is because this engine probably had work done on it and was decked by a machine shop. One thing you could do is find the casting date of the block and see how it corresponds to the build date of the car. Your car was made the 5th week of May, so your block should have a casting date prior to this. The casting date is located on the rear bellhousing flange. It should look something like this E 5 7 (May 5th 67). If you have any other engine parts, they could also be dated. Intake, heads, exhaust manifolds etc. |
