Hi,
Some of the info is wrong and you also missed some, but here is what I came up with:

1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
4 = 8-cylinder engine
37 = coupe body
7 = 1967 model year
L = Los Angeles, CA assembly plant (Van Nuys)
162023 = vehicle serial number sequence

Decode for body number: 037786

No Build date given.
67-12437 = Standard Interior Coupe.
LOS = Built in Van Nuys California.
760 = Standard Black Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats.
L-L = Car Color is Tahoe Turquoise
K471 = internal plant scheduling code.
Options:
1W = (A02) Tinted W/S only
2G = (D55) Console front compartment

I am not sure what letter the 4 in group two should be. If you could recheck it and post it I can tell you what it stands for. Also could you post the date code on the top left of the trim tag? It should be two numbers and one letter.

thanks,
I don't have the car in front of me and the guy read me those numbers over the phone, so I am sure he messed up a couple times. He said it's an original SS/396 car with Muncie 4 speed. He also mentioned gauges in the dash, not on the console that it has. Sound familar? How can I tell if it is a true BB SS car?
Thanks

A BB car will have the correct code on the trim tag (4N or 4K). Unless he forgot some, this car is not a BB car.

thanks again.
One more question, if it has the BB numbers, where on the trim tag would they be?

Left bottom corner.
