And yet another one:

X44 Tag on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10076&item=2465272457)

Selling a cowl tag is not illegal, but selling a VIN tag is. None of these three are worth anything, they are all base coupe tags and are not in the right sequence to be a Yenko, COPO, or anything other than a base coupe.

This is nuts. I've got a tag really close to the x44 09c 71 71 tag thats up to $245.00, makes me think twice about listing it on Ebay until I get a twinge of ethics. $245 would buy me some more parts to continue work one the other cars but it just not right in my opinion. I hope someone is keeping track of these tag numbers.

I copy and paste all the tags I come across in a file listed by body numbers. graemlins/waving.gif

Jeff, you da man. Someday, in a few years we're all going to really appreciate the work put into your's and the CRG's database's as folks try to authenticate their cars. graemlins/beers.gif

Once again Jeff you amaze me at the amount of time and dedication you put in to this hobby. If it were not for a few folks like you,Kurt, and the Clary's alot more fraud would be going on than already is. My hats off to ya again! graemlins/thumbsup.gif Kevin

How will or do you reply to a owner posting a tag for authentication that you have on "the list"? It would be tough to be the bearer of that news.

As for who all is involved WE ALL are. Without the sites like AL's Team Camaro and Team Chevelle and the Clary's Yenko site and CRG and all the members of each, there would be nothing. As for telling someone about their tags or what ever, I guess I would send them a pic of their tag which was most likely not attached to the car at the time and then let them handle it from there. I have started to keep pics of the cars as they are being sold with the tag info from Ebay as well for that day when someone wants to know if the car was ever rebuilt or 100 % ORG.

Keep in mind folks, I think the people out there selling the cars that are good outweigh those that are being sold for making clones and fake cars.
