Would like to search for this VIN # 124378N437122, any thoughts as to where I should begin? Most of the online VIN search sites require 17 digit VIN numbers and 1981 or newer. This is a 1968 Camaro. Any help would be appreciated!

Start with the guy you bought it from, and work your way back from there with letters, phone calls, and DMV contacts; no other way. :(

Well, I don't own this car (VIN# 124378N437122). I would like to, if it's still "alive". It's a '68 Z/28 and I have the motor from it. I'd like to have the rest of it. I don't believe the previous owner of the motor had any info.

Has anyone ever used one of the many services online that claim they can check to see if the vehicle is still registered and to whom it's registered? It's not cheap ($20-ish if they don't find it and $40-ish if they do, per state searched).
