I'm looking at a 69 Camaro with no x-code.
Anyone know why there is none?

Also, where is the engine # that I can compare with the VIN. Is it the Vin # that
I compare or the 124379XXXXX number? to see
if the engine is origional?

Thanks

If you posted more information we could do better to help you. X codes were only on Norwood built cars and weren't stamped with X codes until later in the run. Earlier cars won't have any X codes. What is the vin and cowl tag info? With that we can tell you if your car should have a X code or not. For matching numbers the last six digits of the vin should be stamped on the pad right in front of the pass side cylinder head or on the block casting near (above) the oil filter. It should look like 9Nxxxxxx. If you can't find the numbers there are other ways that will help determine originality but you have to post some numbers. BTW-The number in your post IS the vin format

68 is right, we need your cowl tag and vin information to accurately date the car. For the 1969 model year, the date means alot. During the model year, they changed some of the stamping, such as added the x-codes and moved the engine VIN stamp.

Budman, I see you're still looking at cars. If i find something in the NJ area, I'll send you an email. What is it you're looking for? SS, RS, Z28, any matching # V8?

Hey Jeff,
I pick up my 69 camaro on Saturday. Actually
I posted an add in this sites wanted section
and someone replied. Only 15 miles away. I
paid alot more than I wanted but this car was
in good enough shape. Power windows and rear
defrost incl. Body good/fair. Cowl hood, spoilers, delux interior, orig engine (350)
ralley whls, A/C, tilt wheel.
A good starter for retoration. I paid 4,700.

Cool, sounds like a good project. I just started taking my 69 Z28 apart this past weekend. I'm going to have some parts for sale so if you need anything, let me know and I may have it. I've got a 3 core radiator from an automatic car in great shape, but I need the manual trans radiator.

One thing I plan on doing is converting
the drum brakes to disk. Do you know
any complete set-ups for sale?

Thanks
