I have a 69 Camaro that I think is an RS. It's not a matching #'s car anyway, so I'm not too concerned. The reason I think it's an RS is because it has all the RS features (concealed headlights and headlight washer, simulated rear fender louvers, front and rear wheel opening moldings, RS emblems on grill and rear panel, Rally Sport front fender nameplates, bright accented taillights, back-up lights below rear bumper; and bright roof drip moldings).
But on my trim tag (Late style Norwood Tag) there is nothing in the F section (see below) My question is: What does it mean if there is nothing in the F section. There is no X44 denoting a base car or X11 denoting the style trim group. Did they stop using these codes in late '69? Thanks in advance.

According to CRG "The Xnn codes were a mid-1969 model addition to the Fisher body cowl tags of Norwood-built Camaros, starting approximately late November 1968." So late type trim tag should have the X codes. Could you post the trim tag?

I decoded everything that I know of on the trim tag (V-8 coupe, Garnet Red, Black top, black standard interior, built first week of September, Norwood plant) But there is no X code. Maybe the car was built at the changeover between trim tags.

According to your trim tag, your Camaro is an early 69, that is the reason for the abscence of the X codes. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

Jay, could you post your VIN? An 09A car could be a Sept of 68 or 69. It looks like a Sept 68 car since you don't have the X code, but I can check the VIN to the trim tag.

Kurt S, my vin # is 124379N504093. I've decoded this as Chevy Camaro, 8 Cylinder, Sport Coupe, 1969, Norwood Ohio, 4,093rd Camaro built at Norwood in '69. I guess that would mean a September of '68 production date because it's pretty low in the production numbers. Is this right? Thanks for your help.

Yup. That's an early car, way before the X codes. Should be a small style tag.

The VIN matches the build date and NOR #.
