It came from a truck

3870010 is a common usage block used from 1969 thru 1979 in all Chevrolet and GMC models. It was machined in 2 and 4 bolt main cap versions, only way to know for sure is to remove pan and look. No tell tale outer signs. The 4 bolts were in Hi-Perf and HD truck applications. Note-Generaly speaking 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks are not considere HD.

V0302TJB

V - Flint Engine
03 - March
02 - Day of March
TJB- Its a 350 and could have been used in any one of the following years; 1973 with 155HP, 1974 with 160HP, 1969 with 165HP. All were RPO LS9. The 1973 and '74 were with manual trans and the 79 was a TH350 trans. The 1973 and '74 was used in pickups, some 1973 were in 1 tons, 1979 was in Van's.

To find out exactly the year you will need the casting date. Its a code cast into the block on the rear side usually facing up behind the dist on the bellhousing flange area. Typical date code looks like one of these; H20; D15; K44; I117; A2770. The first digit is the month, next the day and the last the year, year may be one or 2 digits.

B213 casting date means

B - Jan
21st day
3 - 1973

So its a 1973 model year engine for sure.....
