View Full Version : Here comes the Repro Cross Ram Manifolds
Mark C Dec 19th, 04, 04:46 AM Can't tell if they are dated from 68 or 69, but they look pretty good. Not sure if they are worth 4800 or not when there are still bare originals out there for that much. but time will tell. Now we'll have to see if this affects the price of originals.

x44d80 Dec 20th, 04, 05:31 AM Mark, did Edlebrock or any other manufacture make a similar manifold to this one?
Jeff H Dec 20th, 04, 05:33 AM Offenhauser made a crossram almost identical to the GM manifold. The top had Offenhauser cast into it and some mounting tabs for the carb linkage. There was 1 less bolt hole on each side as well. I think the base was made from the GM base and is very close. But these new manifolds look to be new molds and a new casting completely.
Mark C Dec 20th, 04, 05:42 AM For 400 bucks you can buy a brand new Offenhauser crossram, grind off the Offenhauser name, the circle 360 logo and the offenhauser carb linkage brackets, have it reskinned and you have a real close copy for about $600. It's not exact but pretty close to the originals.
These new ones are apparently licensed by GM and or Winters Foundary. They have the winters foundary marks, GM casting numbers on them and externally are exactly the same as the originals. I noticed that all the pictures in the auction omit the area where the casting dates are located on both the top and bottom halves. I wonder if that's because they don't have dates, have current dates, or have dates from 68 and 69 on them.
J Meadows Dec 20th, 04, 07:13 PM Mark, were do you buy a brand new Offenhauser crossram for 400 bucks? The on that I found was for a big block. I would leave the Offenhauser name on it. Not that much of a purest.
rszmjt Dec 20th, 04, 08:04 PM J Meadows,
Check with either summit or jegs, they might have to order it.
It is still availiable from offenhauser, i think about $500 Canadian, which is close to $400US funds.

Last time I saw a price (last year) the base was something like $225, the top plate was about $125 and the linkage was about $60.
HawaiianCamaro Dec 21st, 04, 06:59 PM Neat thing with the Offy's from PAW is you can select the top plate you like, 1x4 2x4 or 2x3. I like the idea of being able to change from the single to dual 4's now and then. The 2x3s would look neat but to much adjustments for me
Pacecarjeff Dec 22nd, 04, 10:10 AM I would have to think that if they sell a few at $4800, that the price will stay there.
If none are sold then the price will go way down.
$4800 is way too high for a repro anything.
Give it time - should bring the price of the originals down some too. (I hope)
Just 5 years ago at a swap meet. I walked past a NOS complete unit with carbs cleaner and linkage for $2500.
I didn't have my Z at the time so I didn't think anythig of it.
Man, I wish I had grabed it - who knew?

Mark C Dec 22nd, 04, 12:12 PM The repro Offy manifold on Ebay even comes with repo'd Holley carbs.
MrGrumpy Dec 24th, 04, 04:32 AM Anyone hear any more on the repo crossrams and the dates. Thre's one on ebay, 4513799341, that claims 69 date codes?? How is this possible? Shouldn't it be more like the carbs and have a 200? date or the date it was remanufactured. Duno, just blowing off steam! Any one know how this is effecting the real crossrams? and has anyone seen one in person to tell them appart from the real thing. Thanks Ho Ho Ho Ho Happy Holidays :D
MrGrumpy Dec 26th, 04, 04:25 AM Emailed the Co that is remanufacturing the crossram, this is what I was told on the date stamping issue:
hi, we are allowed by GM through the licensing program to use correct tooling which has the GM part# and dates in the molds. we have to attach a
(removable) GM restoration parts tag on each unit which will show our license #, date manufactured and compant name.
There you go???
