View Full Version : stumped on an engine code !!! jenpopp Aug 8th, 03, 08:43 AM I can't find any books or people that can tell me what this engine i found came in. I found nothing on it. For the casting number 3914678 - 1968 302/290 (Z/28), 327/210-350 (car or truck), 350/295 (Camaro SS or Chevy II). The casting date code is May 27, 1968. jenpopp Aug 8th, 03, 12:46 PM I am positive on the BA. I know on some marine or industrial blocks the stamping was a number in front of 2 letters. 0606"2BA". My books only go back to 75 on marine and industrial engines. Kyvox Aug 8th, 03, 03:01 PM The only thing that I can find for BA is: 1956 265, 155hp, 2 barrel, auto trans, truck. elcamino Aug 9th, 03, 02:28 AM Originally posted by jenpopp: I am positive on the BA. Is this 06062BA stamped on the front engine pad or is it cast into the metal. There is no marine engine with this suffix that is published and the only time BA was used was as noted above but the block casting does not support that application. Stamped means done by hand. If this is stamped on the front engine pad, you need to go and take a closer look at whats there because this does not make sense. Sorry but all to often these are misread or digits are not seen. Make sure the area is clean of any paint, dirt etc. Paint can obliterate some digits. Better yet, if you can take a good photo showing this and post it, someone might figure it out? jenpopp Aug 9th, 03, 06:07 AM The numbers are stamped on the front pad, just like all the other stamped blocks. I was told last night that the engine is a 327 out of a 1969 massey furgesen combine. Does that seem odd. That would explain not finding it in any books. elcamino Aug 9th, 03, 11:16 AM I would not doubt it. I know they made engines for irrigation use. Guy I know has a 327 engine from a 60's era CrissCraft boat. His dad owned the boat. jenpopp Aug 9th, 03, 11:52 AM thanks for the feedback. I can't get my hands on any books containing early implement codes before 75. You would think some chevy nut would have something about them. |
