Crawled around my 69RS this evening, found alternator numbers = 1102439 followed by 55A
then 2811 followed by 12VNEG

Air Cond. unit is Frigidaire 5910745

On Rear Axel stamped in circular area to left of cover plate 54 with J78 under it,
then along axel itself to left of cover plate, (viewed from rear) above centerline is 345 and right below that is 67890
Cant see on Passenger side toward front of axel yet, need to get it up at a shop for that.
Just curious how much of this is original or not. Thanks to the number crunchers.

J78 ,October 7,1968 casting date.Whats the build date on your cowel tag?

The tag is shown in my web link here with the other photos, but the vin is VIN #124379L505849 3rd or 4th week of Oct 68 Im told.

The other axle #'s are explained under 'Decoding' on the CRG site. Should be able to read the axle tube code without a lift. Don't really need a jack, but it helps.

The alternator is a replacement.
The AC pump should have another # or two on that label. What's the one labeled 'code'?

Finally found that sucker, removed the wheel and duh there it was..
Axel appears to be either BL 100962 or RL 100962 the B & R could be mistaken...also the 6 there could be a 'G' I suppose too, then down lower is the single letter H ,
Air Cond. in the "code" foil area is completely blank. ? Cant see other numbers besides the ones on the label.

It should be BL 1009G2, 3.07 non-posi 12-bolt. Assembled 9th of Oct. 68, second shift at Chevy Gear & Axle.
The H on it might be a W for Warner? But that would mean it is a posi rear? I'm confused.

I will try to get a good picture of that axel this weekend. Kurt thought it might be an 'E' ? Would that be Eaton then? The stamping sure isnt sharp anyway.
