I have an bare 4 barrel intake manifold with casting numbers 3927184 and date code K 12-8. It came off of an old 350 block that was sold long ago.

Is this a proper manifold for a 1969 350/300hp Camaro? I'm not concerned with exactly matching casting dates. If I remember correctly, K 12-8 would be November 12, 1968-- right?

The carb base has separate circular openings for each primary and secondary barrel, a connecting channel at the rear between the two secondary openings, and a long channel along the front that appears to connect to an exhaust gas passage. There is also a baffle or shield riveted to the underside of the manifold.

3927184 Was used on all mid-performance 350 4bbl applications in 1969 on the 350 cu. in. engines with 255 hp. and 300 hp. graemlins/beers.gif

Yep thats the intake I have, I also have a spare now too. My mechanic drilled and plugged the 2 exhaust bypass holes, said it runs better without those for some reason I dont understand fully.
This should look exactly like yours.

Plugging the "hot-slot" holes at the front keeps direct hot exhaust gases off the bottom of the carb; even though there's a stainless baffle there, the heat killed thousands of Q-Jets, melted the lead plugs out of the bottom of the float bowl (can you say FIRE?), and resulted in the biggest carburetor recall in GM history. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks for all your responses. I had never heard anything about the exhaust bypass problem-- would you say that the blocking of the passage should be done in every case?

Also, what colors or finish are the items that attach to the manifold, such as the coil clamp, vacuum fitting, thermostat housing, and heater hose fitting?

The thermostat housing was on the engine when it was painted at the engine plant - the other items were installed at the assembly plant, and were zinc-plated. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
