Hi all,
I saw this distributor on ebay and wondered if this would have been installed on an early 69 Z? The date code seems a little too early for a 1969 Z. Could possibly this distributor be correct for a late 68 Z? Also it "appears" to be original to my amateur eye. What do you guys think?
thanks
Kelvin

I just had another thought. Could this be an early made service replacement distributor?

How about a 1978 made service distributor? I know they kept the 480 distributor in production as a service part into the mid 70's, don't know if it went all the way to 78 though.

It is stamped 8A37 and I don't know what that stands for. My "480" is stamped 8K30. (year/month/day of month) As Mark C. said it might be a service replacement. Seems if it was a restamp they would have used a date that was easy to figure out.......

The guy said the 7 might be a 1. As the 480 was not used in 68, and there are not 37 days in January, it has to be either Jan 31, 1978, or a restamp.
Someone thinks it's valuable, as the bid is already $364. !!!

The picture on the auction page looks like a 7 to me.

1111480's were not available from Chevrolet much after 1978, but I bought several through my local Delco Remy warehouse after that. After 1981 the boxes didn't use a label but had a blue Delco logo and the part number stamped directly on the brown cardboard box end.
