Bob,
from the numbers you give,
built 2nd week of March 67 at Norwood Ohio plant. Sport coupe with black custom bucket interior including custom seat appointments or trim, Marina blue exterior with black vinyl top and tinted windshield. 4 speed car with rear speaker and it your code 2L6R actually reads 2LGR the G indicates a center console, I don't think the 6 is right. 38SDL is RPOZ23 interior decor option, rally sport option auxillary lighting group and again I think the 8 is actually a B on your tag that would indicate a rear defogger. 4P is the SS350 code and 52Y is deluxe belts with custom shoulder harnesses.

Sounds like a nicely optioned out car.

forgot to mention the production number of 89716 would be correct for this build date. Norwood started March 67 with unit 85,267 and ended with 97,870. So it was probably built early in the second week.

The 4P means it is either an SS350 or a 327/275 4 speed which your car has the 4 speed. Does it have the original engine? What are the codes? Otherwise you need to go to www.camaros.org (http://www.camaros.org) to look at the 67 ID to check for some other things to verify the SS350.

Yup, it could be either a L30/M20 or a SS350. Very hard to tell the difference between them. Where does the speedo cable come thru the firewall, what's the tire size on the glovebox sticker?
Any original drivetrain?
Could you post the VIN for the car?
Thanks!

I believe the L30/M20 cars did come with 12 bolts, tht being the lowest output engine that mandated the 12 bolt. The SS350 would have had the traction arm with the radius rod. I don't think the L30 cars came with this traction arm. So that might help determine between the two also.

Nope, both cars got the traction bar, that's what the 4P was for.

Kurt,
Are you sure the L30 cars got the traction bar? By L30 we're talking the 275 horse 327 right? I wasn't aware that these cars had the bar. I have an article I saved I'll dig out tomorrow. Also do we agree that the SS396 and Z28 got the square tubular bar and the SS350 got the smaller rod for the traction device? I'd seen the bar on a 67 SS396 I should've bought many years ago.

Yes, the L30/M20 cars got the radius rod. http://www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com/articles/article_fs.htm

And the type of rod used isn't that simple. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif http://www.camaros.org/radiusrod.shtml

Thanks Kurt. The more you think you learn about these cars, the more you realize that there's still a lot to learn.

Could this be an original L30/M20 car?

Could be. The engine code off of the original block would confirm it.
