Suffix TDR = 1972 350, 175 hp, 4 bolt main, Truck
OR 1980 350, 155 hp, 4 bolt main, Truck

Heads 333882 = 1970-80 350 or 400, 1.94 I & 1.5 E, 76cc.

You will have to look at the casting date on the rear of the block to get the correct year.

Probably the 1972 engine as 3970010 was not used after the 1979 model year.

1980 and up 350's used a new casting....14010207 among others

Greg:
A few more questions to help pin this one down;
*Is the casting date on the side or rear of the block?
*Can you read the casting dates for the heads?
*Does "/" indicate a space or ??? The numbers you give might corrispond to a May 3rd or 8th, 1978(?) casting date.
This engine casting was commonly used in late 70's (78~79) 4X4's and some 1979 20+ series Vans (and Cab Chassis for 'cube vans') with those identifiers and the parts you named, so as a 'best guess' it could be from one of those.
Can you read the VIN derivitive number? ( eg: 18K291005 or something like that ) It should be stamped into the pad to the left of the Engine ID (V0524TBR). This will help identify what vehicle it came from.

Bottom line is that you have one of the good 4Bolt 4" blocks that can make a good starting point for a HP rebuild.
Have the block checked ("Magnafluxed") carefully for cracks in the lifter areas and webs. Check the deck for flatness and mill (deck) only if necessary. The crank bores usually stay straight enough on these engines for any street type build-up.
The crank is okay for a mild street engine, but consider a new crank if going for more than 400HP or using a power adder such as NOS.
The heads make great door stops or anchors - seriously, there are much better heads available for these engines such as the Vortech style. Invest in new heads instead of trying to fix yours. I'd be willing to bet there cracked anyway, I very seldom find a set of these that isn't.

Hope some of this helps - post back with questions and more info if you find it.

The cast date was on the rear passenger side and the / appears to be a slash or could be a number one. The dates on the heads appear to be K 283 on one and L 88 on the other..Many thanks..Greg P...
