I have a 69 Camaro SS 396, 350hp, 4-speed 4.10 rear end. The motor, tranny, and rearend are matching numbers. I also have the window sticker. Trim tag is: ST / 6912347 / VIN / 193884 Date 12/C. Does this mean it is a December 20, 1968 car production date? I have found a carbuerator for the car, Rochestor carb# 7029215. Is this an original carb? The other number next to the 7029215 is EH 1689. Is that the date? And if it is, does that mean the carb would be built in the middle of 1969? Is this carb going to be considered close enough to make it the right one for my car? If the car's production date is 12 C 68, is it going to be impossible to find the right carb, or should I buy this one??? Would you have any information on finding the right carb numbers and date numbers for my car?

Your car was built the 3rd week of December 1968.
This would not be a correct dated carb for your car. The EH is a customer code that means nothing. The 1689 stamping means 168th day of 1969 approx. June 16th. The 7029215 is the correct carb number for your car. You need a date of approximately Mid to Late November of 68. I would guesstimate something like 3198 (Nov 14th) thru 3358 (Dec 1) are the numbers you would need.I would also think you could get by with an earlier date than that. Carbs were made in batches, they used them until they ran out and got another batch in. Look in Hemmings Motor News. There are several sellers of original carbs in there. Expect to pay for it though. I would not be surprised to see you pay $350 -$450 for a restored, ready to bolt on, carb. Seems like 4spd carbs are harder to find.
