Let me start off by saying that I have learned a lot off this web sight and message board as well as from links to other sites that have been posted. I have spend the last couple of days (more like weeks) digging through the archives and trying to learn as much as possible. I'm pretty much new to the 1st generation Camaros, but have owned and raced several 2nd gens, 3rd gens and 4th gens and have just purchased a 69 Camaro that at this points appears to be a Z28. Car is minus motor and trans has 12 bolt, 4-leaf springs and front power disc brakes. Didn't know at the time to look for much else but now I do. http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif

With that said... I have decoded the trim tag and understand how it all works, what I am trying to figure out is whether or not the VIN matches up with the cowl tag. The car currently has no title but I had a cop friend of mine run it to make sure it wasn't stolen. VIN came back clean, but the car hasn't been registered in GA for a long time or never at all.

At this point, I do not have the car in my possession and haven't looked at the coded for the 12 bolt. When I do pick up the car, I will decode them also.

Here is the trim tag and VIN:

VIN: 124379N623213

Trim Tag:
ST69 12437 NOR287182 (possibly 267182 hard to read in photo)
TR: 711 - Black standard buckets
PNT: 72 72 - Hugger Orange
03D - 3rd week of March 1969
X77 - Base Z28

According to my calculations, the car should have been built the last couple of days of March if not the last day. Does this seem correct?

Thanks in advance,
Dwight D.

Yes, the VIN and cowl tag match. And the NOR # should be 287182.
There's a whole week of 03E cars made after your car.

Let us know what you find on the rearend code.

Thanks for confirming my information. I am picking the car up next weekend and will let you know what I find with the rear end.

Thanks again,
