First of all, thanks for the help (in advance). Second, I am sure I missed a lot of online reference help, so I am a little lazy for posting here, but I did try for a couple of hours.
OK!
I have a 67 convertible -- the engine in it is a 327 -- it is a replacement as the number does not match the VIN. The car is an RS for sure, and *may* be an SS. What I do not know is:
1. is it REALLY an SS? and
2. what was the size of the original engine?
here is what I know...
- TH400 transmission -- not sure if it matches VIN
- 12-bolt POSI rear-end
- 3/8in fuel line
- front disc brakes
So I don't know if someone built this up to be an SS clone or if it really was/is an SS. And, if it is, what size engine went in it???
If anyone has some helpful hints I would sure appreciate it!
thanks

Post the VIN and all the numbers from the cowl tag (above the master cylinder) and we can decode it for you.

The car is not an SS. But it is an RS. Should have a 327 in it. Do you have the number from the engine?

Thanks for the info!
The 327 motor does not have matching numbers and is running poorly. I am replacing it with a fast burn 385 GM 350ci crate.
I think I will rebadge this as an RS, it has SS tags on it now. do you think it had a bumblebee paint job on the nose, and/or did it have a hockey stick stripe?
thanks

No stripes for that early of a car. It did have pin stripes on the side. Could you send me the engine number and axle number for CRG's data base?
Thanks,
Daniel
