HCH? this should have been built after 1970, I don't think they build 327s after 1969.

thanks CA420 i could not find a listing for the HCH as i thought 3 digits codes were not used before 1970 but with the oct 15 65 cast date and the cast # this verifies a 1966 327 and it does have the 4" bore X 3.250" stroke and the pad is very clear, thanks again this should be a good motor to replace my friends tired 400sb in his 65 maibu and a lot more correct than the 400. brett no camero 67SS396 chevelle clone had since '82

Look closely at the letters of the suffix. First part is not a C or T. It is a 66 code and the last digit is a H for Holley. They only did this for a few engines for a few years. Don't see it very often.

Three letter code for pre-1970 block. That's something you don't see often. Must be a HP block with a holley marking.

You don't see three-character codes pre-70 very often because they were only used to distinguish between Rochester and Holley versions of only a handful of 1966 passenger car engines. I have a HCR block as a spare engine, which is the Rochester Q-jet carb version of the HCH block.
