William Nov 18th, 01, 11:53 AM Sounds like a replacement warranty folder. The second owner could apply for the remainder of the warranty coverage. The original folder was surrendered and if approved, a replacement folder/pop issued in the 2nd owners' name. Replacements do not have the information the originals had.
crossram Nov 18th, 01, 07:57 PM I just hate that answer!!!!!!!

I think that is a Canada POP. They were different than the US ones, and not as much info ether.

Jeff H Nov 19th, 01, 04:01 AM No, that's a second owner protect-o-plate when they got the warranty extended. I talked to a guy who had a JL8 car and the protect-o-plate looked the same as what you have. He told me he got the extended warranty and ended up having a lot of work done to the heads as a result. I'm not sure how they get translated, but the 5-50 looks like the length of time or mileage.

crossram Nov 19th, 01, 05:07 AM Well I bought the car in Gallup New Mexico in 1981 and I remember going through customs and someone commented that the serial number was of Canadian sequence. Was there a sequence of serial numbers destined for Canada?

HawaiianCamaro Nov 19th, 01, 07:39 AM If you think or was told by a reliable source that it was o Canadian car spend the $45 and send off to GM of Canada and get its history. They kept records of the Camaro's sold up there. Also more info on the page after you click on the Team Camaro icon below;

JohnZ Nov 19th, 01, 11:57 AM There was no specific sequence of VINs for Canadian cars, and they didn't get the usual metal P-O-P; they had an embossed white plastic card that had "General Motors of Canada" on it in blue.
If you think your car was originally sold in Canada, call the GM of Canada "Vintage Desk" at (905)644-4060 with your VIN and they can tell you. If it was, they will put together a great documentation package for you for $45 (Cdn.)+ tax.

mike_russell Nov 19th, 01, 02:54 PM John Z is giving valuable info to people who have purchased camaro's originally sold in Canada.
I purchased my 68 RS Convertible from Vancouver Canada. There was no POP or documentation for it, so before I purchased it I called the number that John gave above and they had all the documented info on my car. This verified what I was purchasing. For the 45 bucks (Cnd) I recieved documents documenting the options, Vin, trim, paint, production plant, shipping date, model number, engine, dealer, number produced for sale in Canada (Same Model Number-only 915 for my model!!). This is a valuable assett for it and just as good as the POP!!
I own a documented numbers matched RS convertible, 327/275hp, with power windows, power top, deluxe interior- etc etc. I didnt even have to pay any taxes bringing back into the U.S.
The best thing for me was the guy I bought it from didnt know this, so I got it for a steal!!
