What is code 3D? I do not see this listed in my books. I know there is a 3B for rear defogger, but this is 3D.

3D = (U29) Courtesy Lamps.

I have to disagree wit code 3D as being curtesy lamps..Why would Fisher Body have to know this? There are no addition provisions in body to accept curtesy lamp..I believe 3D is Console gauges/tach option..

Well there are multiple reasons why the 3D code can not be the Console gauges/tach option.
1) No 6 cyl cars can have gages and CRG has records of 6 cyl cars that have the 3D code.
2) To have the gages it requires the console and CRG also have records of cars the have the 3D code and no 2M code.
3) CRG has a Uniform Option Identification Tag (UOIT)that defines the 3D code as COURTESY LAMPS.

I know this question has come up before and has been answered before. I also know that there are books and web sites define it different, but that does not make them right.

3D in my reference is for RPO Z01 - Special lighting group.

Fisher body installed the wire harness and make provisions for the option.

One has to remember these option codes were used on other Chevy's as well. What is called one thing on a Camaro, could be called something else on a Chevelle.

Elcamino, are you sure Fisher Body installed the curtesy light harness?

Fisher was responsible for most of the interior. If it isn't in the assembly manual, they did it.

3D is clearly specified by the UOIT as U29, no question that it is correct, and Daniel makes some great arguments why. http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#67Codes

One clarification elcamino, though Fisher used these codes across several plants, I believe it was up to the local plant to implement them as they saw fit, since the plants made different body styles.
