What would be the correct build dates for a Holley carb on a 02C build LA Z/28? Would the 3rd week in Dec. 68 be too early?

2 months is probably the maximum. Most would be shorter than that. Is your motor original? Usually, you match the engine component dates to the engine build date, not the body build date. If the motor is not original, dates are of lesser importance (read value) but I would still match the components to the engine build date.

The motor is original. It was cast Feb. 5th and built Feb. 11th. Again, Feb, 3rd week on the cowl tag. I have the protect-o-plate, chassis build sheet etc. I have located a 3rd week in Dec. Holley but in my searching I am realizing Jan. and Feb. carbs are much harder to locate.
Is 7 weeks before the engine build date a little early? Anybody have an original LA built Z/28 with the original carb. on it? Thanks for the help, I want to get the correct date as these things don't come cheap!!!

Doug... I have an 02C Van Nuys built Z that is serial #525XXX. The engine is the original, the block was cast B 11 9 and assy date was V0213DZ. The carb is dated 9 1 2 (2nd week Jan 1969). I am pretty certain that this is the original carb. Hope this info helps you. What serial is your Z?? I am always interested in cars close to mine's build date (LA cars), and how they are equipped. Doug, In most cases, the carb on the original z s i've seen is dated 2-3 weeks before the build date of the car, not the engine, since the carb was installed at the time of engine installation into the body, as were many of the components on the engine. i would use a mid-late Jan. carb.

Considering shipping time might the components for a LA car be dated a little earlier than a Norwood car? I guess the difference might only be a week max. come to think of it. (I'm trying to justify an 8B3 carb.) graemlins/clonk.gif
