As luck would always have it, I'm trying to help a friend decode the engine he bought, and can't find my trusty yellow magic decoding book. Block casting # is 3970010. Engine stamping is V0610TDT. Any help would be appreciated. I think it came out of a large truck (BFT).

It's either:
1972 307, 2 bolt main
1980 350, 4 bolt main
used in trucks or vans.

My vote would be the 350 - 4 bolt truck application, this was a very common block/code. Is the intake on it and does it have a Q-Jet and EGR?

I did not get a good look at the motor. He said it had a Quadrajet and something that looked like an EGR with a missing diaphram. It also had a "loop" of tubing that (he said) ran through the exhaust crossover. I assume this was a "stove pipe" for the choke.
