Thanks Doug JohnZ Dec 23rd, 04, 01:38 PM It's shown in the Assembly Manual in Section 0, Sheet A9, item 3; there's a dimple for it. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Gary L Dec 23rd, 04, 02:42 PM I can email a picture of the hole location. What does anybody do for a grommet? All the ones I find at Lowe's fit the OD, but have too large of an ID for the 1/8" line. Dougs 69 cam Dec 23rd, 04, 03:19 PM Gary, please e-mail me the picture of the firewall. Thanks Doug Gary L Dec 23rd, 04, 04:42 PM Any help on the grommet? stope4 Dec 24th, 04, 03:54 AM Gary, you have a very good question. I have a 68 but could not find the correct grommet. Went to Ace hardware and they have grommets that are 1/2" o.d. with a 1/8" to 3/16" hole. The oil line tubing is a little loose but I think you could add some 3M strip caulk and it would not leak. I also found that our original distributors use a grommet where the wire comes thru the bottom. This grommet is about 1/2" o.d. and the hole is smaller than the Ace hardware grommet. The only problem is the distributor grommet is a split grommet. I don't think it will leak if the hole in the firewall is small enough where you have a real tight fit. Lastly, I have an opprotunity to search a salvage yard on a regular basis that has about 50 first and second gen camaros, novas, chevelles, and 67-72 pickups. I searched this yard for the grommet you are asking about. Whenever there was a hole for the oil line, the grommet was either missing or it was in such bad shape that it fell apart when I tried to get it out. Good luck. If you do find a supply of some, please post or send me an email. I'll continue looking also and will do the same should I find. Gary L Jan 29th, 05, 09:31 AM I solved this with a grommet to fit the firewall then a smaller one super glued inside of the larger one to fit the tubing. Then used black silicone to seal the grommet to the firewall. [ 02-02-2005, 08:18 PM: Message edited by: Gary L ] |
