Can't be an L with a September assembly date, cause that would be a December casting. I is September, 09/11 cast is a much better match for an 09/27 assembled engine. KevinW Jan 6th, 04, 05:30 PM My Sept 68 327 block, heads and intake are 'I's. But original distributor is a J. Jonesy Jan 7th, 04, 04:34 AM Kevin I dont think "I" was used in the stampings on distributors, starters or alternators. So "J" would be September. KevinW Jan 7th, 04, 07:14 AM Jonesy, I kinda figured that, but it is nice to have a confirmation. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Thanks x22d80ragtop Jan 7th, 04, 11:12 AM Thats what I was thinking about! Distributors! OK cool........ JohnZ Jan 10th, 04, 04:51 PM GM guidelines for part dating: Casting (raised) dates = "I" was used. Stamped dates = "I" was not used. graemlins/beers.gif DZ Fool Jan 12th, 04, 06:01 PM I just made a post about this before I saw this Topic My Z is 549401 vin,V1I19DZ, K12* casting date Come check it out its a beutiful 20 Degrees here in Chicago DZ Fool Jan 13th, 04, 01:13 PM ttt |
