That is a partial VIN of the original car that the transmission was installed in.
Breaks down as....

1 - Chevrolet
9 - 1969 Build
L - Van Nuys (LA) assembly plant (probably a Camaro)
524928 - VIN of original install.....

Thanks Steve, the VIN is 124679N570308. The car was exported to Canada. I thought the numbers should be on the trans pan and not the bellhousing? Any further info is greatly appreciated.

VINs were stamped on the aluminum body, the build date was stamped on the pass side of the trans pan. Is the trans code there / what is it?

Could you post the trim tag info for you convertible? Especially curious what the build date is.
