I have found 4 14" hubcaps with an SS emblem in the center with the # 3860243. Does anyone know what these are off of?
Chevy parts dept. says it's a valid number but is unable to tell me what kind of vehicle it's from.

Thanks

If they have a SS emblem about 1 1/2 in diameter with a spinner I believe 65 66 Impala,Chevelle,Nova used these on the SS cars.

66-67 Chevy II had an SS wheelcover without a spinner and Chevelle did as well. The only wheelcover for 67-69 Camaro that had an SS emblem had a spinner like center (3 bars)

It may be a good number but it does not show up in any of the paper parts catalogs I have from 1946 thru 1981. The group this falls in is 5.871.

All I can figure is the part number has changed from original.

Then a 66 Nova cap. I've never seen the Impala spinner cap on a Nova, but if you say they did it, I'll agree. I have seen an non-spinner SS cap that is basically a 'dome' with an SS in the center..

Sorry, I don't know how to create a link at this time.

The black center with the SS emblems measures 2 7/8".

I hope this helps and I appreciate your replies.

Group 5.871 is trim rings and the center emblem of a hubcap. Group 5.858 is full hubcap.

Part number 3860243 is the center ornament for the following as per description from my GM parts Book dated 10/77:

Description is "ORNAMENT, wheel cover"

1965 Malibu (S.S.) (exc. wire wheels)
1965 ElCamino Custom
1967-69 Nova, Camaro, Chevelle w/wire wheels.

So this is what wheel covers this center ornament came on.

It listed for $6.95

The only one listed as SS and NON wire is the 65 Malibu.
My guess is that the wheel cover you have pictured is for 65 Malibu SS.
The correct part number for the complete wheel cover is 3964523 for the 67 Nova SS
and 3867968 for the 65 Malibu SS. It appears that there was a difference between the 2.

Hope this helps

Jonesy,
Thank you for your information. The number I posted is off of the center, it is the only number I could find.

I was hoping these were for a 67 camaro!

Thanks,
