Been searching for that elusive 1111480 distributor to match my Z (built in the 2ond week of October 68). Been looking at ebay, called Jerry M, and all the classified ads I can find. Is there anywhere else you guys can suggest? Appreciate any input.

Beware though, he's pretty pricey.....

There's always Rick's First Generation and Bob Harris at Camaro Specialties.....

And if you do find / get one, make sure to send it to Jerry MacNeish to authenticate it for you...

Beleive me, he's seen enough re-stamps to know what's real or fake......

That is going to be an expensive piece and you better know who you are buying it from to make sure you are getting the real thing.

Try a search on the name John Pirkle in hemmings under parts. It will give you his name and number in Georgia. He is a renound restoration expert of all types of electrical and I bought a couple 837 starters off him for my cars recently. Nice work and he has won awards for his restoration work. If he does not have one, he might be able to line you up with someone who does.

Been there and done what you are doing. Just hang in there and it will show up. I bought mine from Jerry M. By luck he had a good date for me. What usually happens to me is that I find something to buy that is not quite right, then the next week the perfect one shows up on ebay or wherever. If I find one I will let you know as, in the past. Did you find an alternator? Have you tried Camaro Country from the Hemmings ads?

I don't want to sound like a pessimist..but you are in for a tough search, at least if you are looking for a "real" 480.

Restamps are everywhere, and theres no way I would trust a 480 advertised on Ebay as legitimate. I have won 5 480's off Ebay (advertised as legit 480's) over the last 6-7 years and ALL of them were restamps.

I'm in the same boat as you- I'm looking for a 480 for a 1st week Oct 69 Z28. No luck yet.

Thanks all for the replies! I have been in contact with John Pirkle and purchased a starter from him. I'll try Jim at heartbeat city as I have purchased parts from there before. I concur with the multitude of restamps out there. I'll just keep on searching.
