Let me run some #s by you guys, tell me what you think.

tr711 72 72 pnt
02d x77
engine# v0211dz
trans# pb0114
axle# qw0107(this # from delivery sheet)
(yea, I know another orange Camaro)
I'd like to know where the intake # is located if you guys can help me. Also when I bought the car it included a paper entitled: 1969 Chevrolet Pre-Delivery Service and Adjustment Check Sheet
It appears this car was sold from Jay Chevrolet in Upper Marlboro Md. It was sold to Ronald Mason of Hyattsville Md. Anybody know Ron? It looks as if the car was delivered to Ron on 3/4/69. Does this seem to all add up, as far as #s dates and this delivery sheet? Any way to verify this delivery sheet( does Jay Chevrolet still exist). Are there other important #s I should be looking for? Last, what are the best signs (the hard to clone stuff) this is the car it appears to be, a real Z? Any info and or help is much appreciated as always.

Looks like everything matches up pretty well, the car was built in the last week of February 1969, x77 is definitely Z28, with delivery shortly after assembly. Engine date is close to assembly allright= February 11, 1969. Looks like you scored a nice car! Congrats!

I don't have any other info on the other questions, sorry.

Still have the original JL8 rear in it? And it's a QW, not QX or QY?
Trans format is off. Should be P9A12A format.

Otherwise, the dates look OK.

Sorry to say Kurt the car has drum brakes on rear. What makes you think it's a JL8 car?

Because QW is the axle code for a 3.55 12 bolt posi rear axle with JL8 disc brakes.

Repost the trans code and check the current axle code.
The axle code is located on the passenger side axle tube. Look under 'Decoding' on the CRG website for a great sketch of the location. http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#RearAxleNumbers

JL8 Z??? Sweet! You would have never known it without that delivery inspection sheet since you say the car has rear drums on it now.

The trans code is on the passenger side, stamped on the rear edge of the maincase.
Recheck the axle code. Should be 2 letters, then 4 #'s, then G (eg BU0123G).

Can you scan that sheet you have?

67 trans (built Nov 2 66), so that's not original.
3.31 posi, built Dec 6th. A little too early for your car, esp with the PDI sheet showing the other axle.
No hurry on the sheet, but I too would like to see it. You could mail me a photocopy too.

Thanks Smitty I would appreciate that. Hey Kurt or anyone else who can answer the question, can you tell what kind of tranny is in my car by the previous info (p7s02). Another # from tranny 3885010. Obviously it's a 4 speed, any other info would be appreciated.

Sounds about right-my 69 Z is VIN 614635,2174 cars after yours(also Norwood)and the build date is 03B-second week of March, also X77.Does your car have the 4-piston front calipers that would have been part of the JL8 package?
