Hope someone can help. I bought a 67 ss/rs clone convt. It is show quality, vin is a 12367, so I guess originally it was a 6-cyl.
The seller told me it has a 396/402-325hp motor in it now. It does have 3spd turbo auto with correct console, gauges, dash tach, etc. My question is my engine code. On front passenger side block code indented reads T0831CTB...under this on same part of motor reads 121120160.
This guy lied quite a bit to me so im cautious. Anybody have any idea where and what this motor is? (it runs very strong!)

The suffix CTB was used in 1972 Camaro with 396 AT/AR (air injection reactor). According to the Camaro White Book, the 72 396 was 240HP.

Did you happen to buy your car in Dallas?? I know of a pretty good liar here too. Didn't figure it out until too late.....

Thanks for the help....I know that in 70 or 71 GM went from gross hp to net hp ratings.
If this is 72 396, any idea what gross hp is...it has to have more than 240. Thanks again.
