Hi I have a 1969 Z/28 that currently does not have the original carburator. I have been considering replacing it with the 4053 Holley. My car was made in Norwood in August of 69. If I replace it with an original not a new repro what date code should the carb have? Thanks Bob

If you get lucky you might find on that has a date code xxx9. This one would most likely be sitting on a shelf since sometime last year since any carb built this year would have xxx0. The thing I would concern myself with would be if the carb has the GM part number on the air horn. If it doesn't I would not be to concerned with date.

Steve, I think he wanted an orginal carb NOT repro. The orginal will have a 3 digit date code ie. 9xx. The repro will have a 4 digit date code ie. 9xxx.

Holley started to use the 4 digit date code in late 1972. There were some replacment carbs with the Chevy part no. stamped on the air horn. Here is another post on it http://www.camaros.net/forum/Forum1/HTML/002138.html
