Hi,

Does anyone know where I can buy the small flare fitting that screws into the back of the pump/reservoir? It is the one that the pressure line seats onto. I have new pump, but it tells me to use the old adapter. Unfortunately, the original pump in my car was long gone.

Hugger I just replaced my hoses a few weeks ago. The (non) pressure return line is only a hose clamp fitting and that one was available at NAPA. The pressure hose was all one piece on my 69, so I had NAPA rebuild my blown hose. They had other fittings that should work for you in stock. Check the auto supply stores for the sharp turn 90 degree connection and maybe a compression type fitting can be built for you.
Hope this helps.

Detroit speed shows some fittings on their web site. http://www.detroitspeed.com/

Some of the Aeroquip vendors have them too.

Make sure you have the pressure valve and spring that goes ahead of the fitting too.

David you scared me now... what spring and valve are you referring to? When I removed my hoses they just unscrewed at the pump and steering box. I hauled them in for rebuilding. Put back in and no leaks, works great too, considering I drove it 5 or 6 miles with no fluid when it blew.
Did I miss something?

The fitting you connect the hose to at the bottom of the PS pump holds a spool shaped pressure valve in place, it is inside the pump, and the valve has a coil spring on the other (front) side of the spool, pushing it toward the outlet fitting.

Early pumps have a notch milled into the spool face, this was used with an outlet fitting that has a male hose fitting and a long tube shaped restrictor that presses against the valve holding it in.

Later pumps, I think 75 and up, use a female hose fitting and the tube that holds the valve in place is larger and tapered, with no notch in the spool.

There might be a problem using a flat face no notch spool with the later fitting, I'm not sure.

There is probably a third gen later version that has the O ring female seat.

i think- he needs the whole part that the line screws INTO, with the big nut on the back that holds the resevoir onto the pump. that should be a junkyard find, i would guess...
