: PDQ67...Is this the 3 leaf springs you used on your Camaro?
Granny's 69 Dec 18th, 03, 11:03 AM PDQ67,
Below is a link to the JC Whitney catalog showing the 68 Nova 3 leaf mono-to-multi replacement springs.
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?makeId=1000107&productId=1955&catalogId=10101&langId=-1&modelId=1001152&storeId=10101
If so, they have a great price and I am very tempted to pick up a set as they are even less expensive than the Vettebrakes 3 leafs. I could pick up the set for $135.90 + shipping!! Let me know ....
Thanks,
Mark P.
Jeff H Dec 18th, 03, 01:55 PM Those are the springs I just bought and they look like they should work pretty good. The bolt that goes through from the top is beveled to fit flush with the top leaf so they should bolt right in. I used one of their 10% off coupons and that made them come out to around $135 shipped. I haven't had a chance to install them yet.
pdq67 Dec 18th, 03, 03:21 PM My JCW cat. is number 671J-02 and the spring number is 94UA2669X at $62.95 each.
If this cross references to one of the the numbers you listed which should be the second one down.

Granny's 69 Dec 19th, 03, 03:10 AM Thanks for the replies guys! Yes, I was looking at the second entry displayed on the link in my original post. Jeff...I would be very interested in hearing how your spring install turns out.
BTW, Any idea who makes these springs for JCW?
Thanks again,
Mark P.
pdq67 Dec 19th, 03, 04:33 AM I'm sorry, but I can't find my info on who made the set I..
BUT did find a bunch of my old mag's that I have been looking for for a while!!!
pdq67
Jeff H Dec 19th, 03, 05:00 AM I'll post back when I get the chance to install them.
coach420 Dec 19th, 03, 07:40 AM Do those fit with the single leaf rear end housing?
Granny's 69 Dec 19th, 03, 08:31 AM Coach420,
I believe they are supposed to be a direct bolt-in replacement for Novas (and Camaros too) that originally came with mono leaf rear ends.
Perhaps PDQ67 or someone else will verify this...
- Mark P.
Jeff H Dec 19th, 03, 10:12 AM They are called a direct bolt in, but it looks like you will have to leave off the rubber mounting pads for them to fit in the monoleaf pearch.
Vic_68 Dec 19th, 03, 08:34 PM I used those on a 69 Nova that had monoleafs. I don't know the spring rate but they are a good balance to stock repacement front springs. Much less harsh than the four leafs on my Camaro.
They fit fine with the rubber isolaters but I did switch to u-bolts and later used lower plates from a multi leaf with multileaf shocks
Granny's 69 Dec 22nd, 03, 09:06 AM Hey all,
Not trying to vendor bash here but,
FYI, I tried to get more info. from JCWhitney about the replacement 3 leaf springs as outlined in my e-mail below.
Below is the response.....Although JCW was prompt with a response, they didn't provide me with any new info. that I didn't already know.....(the spring price is per each).....ARGGHHH!! Sometimes it's frustrating trying to get technical info. from vendors!!!

Thank you for contacting Carparts.com & JC Whitney for your automotive needs. The springs you are interested in are priced per "each".

comment: I am interested in your replacement 3 leaf rear springs for the 68-72 Chevy Nova (Catalog part #94ZX2669X) listed at $67.95 each.
My questions are: 1.When replacing monoleaf springs with the 3 leafs, do you still use the spring perch rubber isolator pads or are they not used due to the additional thickness of the 3 leaf springs?
Question 2: What is the above mentioned spring's pound rating i.e. 175lbs.,250lbs. etc. ? Any additional info. would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark Pippin

Jeff H Dec 22nd, 03, 02:55 PM Here's the information on these springs. They are made by S&G Enterprises, Inc. Their website is S&G Enterprises (http://www.sg-ent.com) and the part # is 21-245. They are made in Mexico. This same part shows up on this website Triangle Spring (http://www.macsspring.com/website/leafs-catalog.htm) as factory replacement springs. They don't list the details such as spring rate on either site though.
pdq67 Dec 22nd, 03, 03:34 PM That's it Jeff, S&G!!!
I know they aren't high dollar hi-po springs but imho appear to be good value for the buck!!
pdq67
Jeff H Dec 23rd, 03, 03:23 AM The springs had a sticker on them so it was easy to identify them at that point. :D
Granny's 69 Dec 23rd, 03, 03:38 AM Thanks Guys,
At least I now know who makes them! I'm not mad at JCW, In fact, if I give them the discount code that came up on my internet browser, I get free shipping! So the springs would be a little under $136.00 delivered to my door!
Your right PDQ67, they aren't high dollar, big name brand springs. But if I can get past the "namebranditis" disease, they look like an excellent replacement spring for the money. And right now,my Camaro's stance with sagging 34 year old monoleafs is "nose high" and pretty sad looking. Maybe it would at least set level again!
I'm wanting to do a set of "before" and "after" pics. I'll try to post them up when the time comes.

pdq67 Dec 23rd, 03, 04:27 PM Granny's 69,
I got away from high dollar names and "spit and polish" when I was young and broke!!
No, I don't chrome it if it doesn't run!!
I like to call it "frugal" and it is a "value vs dollar vs power" thing to me even to this day!!
OK, tight-a-s if you will, He, He!!

Jeff H Dec 23rd, 03, 04:40 PM It comes down to your individual situation. I'm going all out with my 69 JL8 restoration trying to make the car as correct as possible with the selected over the counter parts to make a Z28 into a road race car. With the 68 I just bought, it's almost the opposite. Make the car a comfortable, reliable and safe cruiser that I'm not worried about originality. That's why I went with the JCW 3 leaf replacement springs. Now I'm trying to figure out which exhaust sytem I want to run without spending too much money.
pdq67 Dec 24th, 03, 03:56 AM Jeff,
It's funny you should mention originality when talking about making one of your cars as original as possible when they were sold to Racing Teams that took them right apart first thing AND started modifying them to make them more competitive!!
BUT I understand where you are coming from!!
Mine is "Restified", not restored!! I sure the h-ll don't want the old bias-ply tires and terrible drum brakes on my car nowaday's!!

CFunK Nov 28th, 04, 11:18 AM More info on the JCW springs. According to the sticker on the springs I installed from Vette Brakes the JCW/Triangle and VB springs both have the same PN (21-245).
I am going to assume they are the same spring given the PN and the fact my VB springs were labled "Triangle". This would make the JCW springs #130.
The curious thing is after the install my rear end is about an inch higher with the VB springs than other who have used the JCW springs. (Yes, everything was tightned after it was on the ground)
Here is the thread with the info on my VB springs.

Good info. and thank's for posting it. Probably should save this for posterity...

Joe Harrison Nov 30th, 04, 03:35 PM Anyone figure out if these springs are the same as the Hotchkis springs? Have y'all got pictures to look at? I want hotchkis so I can lower my 67 (already have hotchkis S/B springs in front)the rest of the way. Can these be installed and used lowering blocks with them? These Spring rates compared to Hotchkis? These springs are half the price and if they are the same that would be just to good to be true!!
Joe
Jeff H Dec 1st, 04, 04:59 AM The springs I got from JCW were made in Mexico I believe so I don't think they're the same springs. I don't have the part #'s that were on them anymore though. There might be an old post here somewhere that I posted the part #.

pdq67 Dec 1st, 04, 02:51 PM I don't recall my S&G springs coming from Mexico, but I bought mine probably four/five years ago or more..

FresnoRS Dec 6th, 04, 12:28 PM For you guys that have installed these springs, can you advise what the ride height is like?
Maybe a hub to fender lip measurement? I don't know what stock is supposed to look like on my 67's saggy baggy rear end.
emdoller Jul 23rd, 06, 08:03 PM I have my #21-245 springs coming this week. Can some one who has installed these tell me if they are really "drop in"?
Any help is always appreciated!!
Ed
DOUG G Jul 24th, 06, 01:13 PM I coun't wait a month for the 3 leafs so I bought the 4 leafs and have one 85% in, then it got HOT and I started a bathroom re-model which has to be completed before I go back to the car (Her orders :( ). I gotta get a moving.
I can still get to one and it has ...

mike p Jul 25th, 06, 05:10 PM emdoller: The body shop dropped my 21-245 3 leafs in using the original mono shock plates and perches. They said no hassle involved. (I did use mono shock adapters for the new KYB shocks) I am anxious to drive it soon!
Granny's 69 Jul 25th, 06, 05:43 PM Wow, this thread revived again...
Emdoller,
Glad to see the 21-245 springs worked out for you. I have mine installed along with a set of Monroe VST shocks. My car now sits level and rides firm.
I do have a vibration problem in the rear end that popped up after I installed the new 3 leafs. I think it's a pinion angle problem (pinion yoke pointed too far down). So I'm going to pull out the upper perch pads and install my old lower mono perch pads. Hopefully this will raise the nose of the rear end and cure the vibration.
Corvettemaster Aug 6th, 06, 03:50 PM What is the difference between the listings? if you put in 68 camaro in JC whitney it come up with several options all about the same price 67.99 There is a 4 leaf HD for Z28 ZX970033N for $69.99 that will sip in 24 hrs compared to the ZX942669X which is listed a s a 3 leaf for the Nova and won't ship til 8/28 and it does not mention it is for a mono to multi swap. Will the 4 leafs fit in the mono leaf mounting pads?
emdoller Aug 6th, 06, 08:24 PM I just finished my install of the 21-245 3 leaf. Pretty easy job but I ended up throwing out the leaf spring pads so that the stock plates would fit perfectly. Otherwise there was a gap and I didn't like it.
The rear sits quite a bit higher but I really can't tell if it's becasue the old monos were so bad ot these make it sit high.
I'm wondering if driving it will make it come down a bit?
pdq67 Aug 7th, 06, 04:36 PM Tighten everything completely on the ground then drive it and see how much she settles.
