Is the oil cloudy white in color if it is thats a sign of water in the oil. You should have it checked.

Check your radiator too for any tell-tale signs of oil. pdq67

The reason they are looking for water is that the transmission cooler is part of the radiator (unless you have by passed it) and is cooled by the cooler water returning to the engine. If it has a leak istide the radiator the you will be mixxing the two fluids. Your trans fluid should be a crisp translucent red (if it has dexron or type F fluid) and should be slippery and not smell burnt. If it is any other color or is very thin or smells burnt then you need to investigate the source of the contamination.

Has your car been driven through deep water or been in a flood situation. Water can get into drivetrains this way too.

take a real close look at the fluid to see if it is tiny air bubbls, if it is air, could be a cooler line,to a front pump seal leak.
